Automation Made for you: Twin! Where have you been?!

The power of automation for legal tech start ups. Learn how No22 Solutions is leveraging RPA and AI to enhance their product offering.

Automation Made for you: Twin! Where have you been?!

....and if you're familiar with the TikTok trend you'll know that what follows is a paean to that one person, or cat, that's made for you, and whilst this post has nothing to do with cats or people, there is a twin (of sorts) and we do explore the concept of best fit.

Some of the challenges inherent to growing a start-up include the decision to enhance your product offering in response to changes in your target market. Ignoring key trends could reduce the attractiveness of your offering, yet veneer level attempts at development could harm your value proposition and reduce the integrity of your offering.

The automation of enterprise level processes started long before the current explosion of RPA and AI excitement, largely in the introduction of systems that simplified business activities like communication, payments, marketing, sourcing etc. Complete CLM already automates the contract management process, integrating into its platform the complex governance requirements of government contract management. The addition of RPA or AI would be to further enhance this capability, in a manner that is useful to our end clients.

Recently, at No22 Solutions, when discussing our 24/25 roadmap we've involved Google's Gemini to sense check the wisdom of the collective. Asking an AI language model for AI, and RPA, inspiration surprisingly returned some sagacious advice on the perceived benefits, strategizing a scalable approach, and understanding the difference between the technologies. The most readily digestible being "Think of RPA as a super-efficient digital assistant that handles all your tedious, repetitive paperwork, so you can focus on more important things." and "AI is like having a super-smart analyst that can spot patterns, make predictions, and give you insights you might miss.".  This really hones our focus on what technology to address first, and where it's best integrated into our offer.

Here's what Gemini had to say about AI and RPA and the burgeoning contract management solution market.

RPA (Robotic Process Automation) and AI (Artificial Intelligence) are both powerful automation technologies, but they have key differences in their focus, capabilities, and how they work.

Here's a breakdown:

RPA (Robotic Process Automation)

Focus: Rule-based task automation. RPA is primarily for automating repetitive, structured tasks that follow a clear set of instructions.

How it Works: RPA software bots mimic human actions within existing software systems. They interact with user interfaces (UI) like a human would, clicking buttons, copying and pasting data, and filling in forms.

Capabilities:

  • Data entry and manipulation across systems
  • Executing pre-defined processes
  • Following strict if/then logic
  • Triggering actions based on rules

AI (Artificial Intelligence)

Focus: Mimicking intelligent behaviour. AI is designed to simulate human cognition to adapt, learn, and make decisions in complex situations.

How it Works: AI systems are built on various techniques like:

  • Machine Learning: Algorithms that learn patterns from data to make predictions or classify information.
  • Natural Language Processing (NLP): Understanding and manipulating human language.
  • Computer Vision: Extracting meaning from images and videos.

Capabilities:

  • Understanding unstructured data (text, images)
  • Learning and adapting over time
  • Making predictions and recommendations
  • Reasoning and decision-making within uncertain situations
